Not long ago I spent a few days at DOYOU PLACE, three A-frame cabins in the Lithuanian countryside. After my stay I spoke with the owners and told them I'd like to write about it. So this one is personal: what I saw, what I felt, and why I think it's worth the trip.
Some places you visit. Others slow you down before you even arrive.
The road to DOYOU PLACE, a small nature retreat of A-frame cabins an hour's drive from Vilnius, does half the work for you. After leaving the main road, you drive for a while on narrow country roads, through small villages where nothing seems to be in a hurry. Then the road turns into the forest, and somewhere between the trees you notice your own pace starting to change. By the time you arrive, you're already a little quieter than when you left.
And then you see it.

It's hard not to stop for a moment when you get there. The forest, the open landscape, and the lake below come together in a way that feels almost too calm to be real. The A-frame cabins sit naturally in the landscape, as if they grew there. There's a lot of wood everywhere, inside and out, and it gives the whole place a warmth that's hard to describe. It feels simple, honest and beautiful.
The owners, Justė and Kęstas, built everything here themselves, from their own imagination, without following any standard model. You can feel it. Nothing looks like it came from a catalogue. The windows are big, the lines are clean, and the real decoration is whatever is happening outside.
Stepping inside feels like the cabin wraps around you. The A-frame shape gives it a high, open ceiling, with a mezzanine above, and the whole space is about 50 square meters. Big enough to breathe, small enough to still feel like a cabin.
Wood is everywhere, and that's what makes it. The walls, the ceiling, the details. Together with the earth tones and the natural light coming through the big windows, it creates a warmth you feel the moment you walk in. Nothing is overdesigned. Simple lines, calm colors, and the view outside doing the rest.

And then there's the fireplace. There's firewood ready, and lighting it in the evening changes the whole atmosphere of the cabin. The sound of the fire, the smell of the wood, the light on the walls. It's the kind of place where you sit down for a few minutes and end up staying for hours.
Everything you need is already there: a kitchenette, robes, towels, and a terrace with a grill outside. You arrive, put your bag down, and there's nothing left to organize.
Beyond the cabin itself, there's a Scandinavian sauna and a jacuzzi, and you can add breakfast to your booking. It's served in a separate cabin, and the owners call it a personal breakfast ritual: fresh bread, focaccia, cheeses, pastries and good coffee.

What stayed with me most is the silence.
Not the kind of silence where something is missing. The kind where you suddenly realize how much noise you've been carrying around. No traffic, no crowds, no one next door. Only three cabins in a large piece of land, which is exactly the idea behind the place: more nature, fewer people.
At first it almost feels strange. Then, slowly, it feels like freedom. Your thoughts get slower and clearer. You stop checking the time. You sit outside longer than you planned, and it doesn't feel like wasted time at all.

The lake is the heart of the view. It changes all the time with the light: calm and bright during the day, soft and quiet as the evening comes in. The forest around it adds its own rhythm, the pine trees, the sound of the wind, the birds.

The owners care deeply about keeping this land wild. They protect their forest, keep wild meadows and make homes for birds, and they even dream of buying more land nearby just to keep it untouched. Knowing that makes the place feel even more special. You're not just staying in nature, you're staying somewhere that's actively protecting it.
I really enjoyed photographing there. I think it's because of the silence. When there's nothing pulling your attention, you start noticing things: the way light falls on the wood, reflections on the lake, the lines of the cabin against the trees. The calm gives you space, and that space turns into creativity.
I didn't plan any shots. I just walked around with the camera and photographed whatever caught my eye.

"What stayed with me most is the silence."
That's really what DOYOU PLACE is. Not a hotel, not an attraction, but a place to slow down. The name says it well: "do you" means doing what's right for you, whatever that may be. For some people that's the sauna and the jacuzzi. For others it's a book by the fireplace, or long hours on the terrace. For me, it was silence, nature, and a camera in my hand.
If you're looking for a place in Lithuania to breathe, disconnect and come back a little calmer, this is it.
